Under the direction of the deputy superintendent of Student Programs and Services, the Governmental Relations, Charter Schools, and Community Partnerships department plays a crucial role in advancing the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) and its ability to serve students, families, 14 local school districts and the community.

This department is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with government agencies and elected officials, advocating for policies and initiatives that support the needs of the educational community, and monitoring legislative developments that potentially affect SJCOE programs and students.

San Joaquin County Charter Schools

San Joaquin County charter schools are public schools that may provide instruction in any of grades TK-12 that are created or organized by a group of teachers, parents, community leaders, or a community-based organization. The charter schools in San Joaquin County have been authorized by a school district or the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE).

SJCOE Charter Schools

Venture Academy Family of Schools is a public charter school authorized by the San Joaquin County Office of Education, serving approximately 1600 students in grades TK-12. Venture Academy is comprised of focused academies designed to address student interests.
