The San Joaquin County Board of Education is the elected governing body of San Joaquin County Office of Education. The five members of the San Joaquin County Board of Education each represent a geographic area of San Joaquin County. Members are elected into office and serve six-year terms. The Board approves the SJCOE annual budget and serves as an appeal board of such actions as interdistrict attendance requests, student expulsions, and charter school petitions. The Board also serves as a county committee on school district organization that addresses changes in boundaries of school districts and areas represented by school district governing board members. Regular meetings of the San Joaquin County Board of Education are held the third Wednesday of each month at noon in the Board Room at the Gaylord A. Nelson Administration Center, 2922 Transworld Drive, Stockton, unless otherwise posted.
The San Joaquin County Board of Education Seeks Applicants for Vacant Seat
The San Joaquin County Board of Education (Board) is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Board from Trustee Area 3. The Board plans to make a provisional appointment on Friday, August 30, 2024. The person selected will be appointed to serve the remainder of the current term which is through June 2026.
The Trustee Area 3 boundary map can be viewed here. The eligibility criteria are provided in the application. Residency in Trustee Area 3 can be verified for interested candidates by completing the District Verification form here and returning it to the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voter’s Candidate Services office at candidates@sjgov.org.

Applications are due back to the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Office of the Superintendent, by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024.
The Board plans to review the applications, interview eligible candidates, and make a provisional appointment at a Special San Joaquin County Board of Education Board meeting on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., held at the San Joaquin County Office of Education.
