The STEM Department provides regional support for teachers and students in the areas of science while integrating, technology, engineering, and math. Our mission is to increase opportunities for educators to learn content and pedagogy for the successful implementation of the NGSS and the English and math state standards. In addition, we serve as a regional resource for kits and supplies including GEMS, Math, Science, and Beyond , FOSS, and StarLab, as well as regionally developed kits. The STEM Department helps facilitate student activities such as: Science and Engineering Fair, Dinner With a Scientist, and STEM Camps during the school year and in the summer.

The SJCOE STEM and the University of the Pacific (UOP) are partners to direct the Delta Sierra Science Project. This project is the Region 6 affiliate of the California Science Project and the California Subject Matter Project. We are also funded by the California Regional Environmental Education Community to provide Environmental Education professional development.

The North Central Valley STEM Center is a regional collaborative partnership involving UOP, San Joaquin Delta College, Modesto Junior College, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, National Security Technologies, Give Every Child a Chance, and Teacher's College of San Joaquin to name a few, as well as the County Offices of Education from Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne. This partnership provides meaning support to ensure our students are career and college ready and prepared for the technological demands of the 21st century.

The STEM Department also serves as a liaison between the California Department of Education and other national and regional science-oriented agencies. The department pursues grant-funded opportunities that meet regional needs. Projects include those funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, California Postsecondary Education Commission, and the California Department of Education.
