STOCKTON — Dozens of high school students fanned out across San Joaquin County on Thursday, getting an up-close look at the work done by county government agencies while having a chance to find out more about how to get into those jobs themselves.
Before heading out on a tour schedule that would showcase the boats, dogs, bomb-disposal equipment and more that make up the Sheriff’s Office, Escalon High senior Rebecca Murdock, 17, said she thought she could be interested in a career in law enforcement. The idea sounded even better after a few hours touring the department.
“It was amazing,” she said, saying she was particularly impressed learning how the agency investigates a crime scene. It was something she could see herself doing, she said.
