The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is hosting CalPERS Benefits Education Events (formerly known as Retirement Planning Fairs). The new name reflects CalPERS' commitment to provide broader educational offerings geared toward members of all ages and across all career stages.
The Spring 2014 events begin in Sacramento on May 9 and 10, continue in Visalia on May 30 and 31 and conclude in Ontario on June 6 and 7.
CalPERS is offering two different versions of our CalPERS Benefits, CalPERS Health Benefits and Deferred Compensation breakout sessions. One version is tailored to members who are early thru mid-career which will provide the tools needed to make sound planning decisions for their future. The other version is tailored to members closer to retirement. There will also be breakout sessions on Social Security and Member Self-Service.
Members will have the opportunity to visit the exhibit hall to speak with representatives about their CalPERS benefits including retirement, health, supplemental savings plans and long-term care.
In addition, representatives will be available from Social Security, CalPERS health plan providers, Savings Plus which is administered by the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR), ScholarShare – California’s 529 College Savings Plan, the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) and public retiree organizations.
