Workability

The Vocational Skills Lab simulates a real-world work environment, allowing special education students to practice these skills in a structured, supportive atmosphere. Instructors act as supervisors and provide individualized guidance to ensure students can progress at their own pace, receive feedback, and refine their skills. Students explore approximately 300 job tasks in five different career fields including consumer science, business marketing, processing/production, construction/industrial, and computer/technology. Our staff tracks student’s progress at the Vocational Skills Lab and provides a detailed data driven report to help guide IEP teams as they develop the student’s individual transition plan. After working at the Vocational Skills Lab, students are better prepared to transition into competitive employment or vocational training programs, armed with practical skills and greater confidence.
