Special Education Programs
Special Education Programs serves students with disabilities not otherwise served in the school districts that make up the San Joaquin SELPA, primarily for students with extensive support needs.
Our programs serve students diagnosed with autism, visual impairment and deaf and hard of hearing, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, and students with emotional disability. The department supports every child's right to an education designed to meet individual needs. It is essential to provide experiences that will enable the individual to:
- Develop ultimate functioning level
- Learn in an environment that facilitates comfort, security and is not limited by physical barriers, and
- Utilize those critical skills and attitudes necessary to adapt and function in everyday life.
All children are active learners and have potential for growth. It is our goal to protect and nurture personal dignity, ensure health and safety, and promote understanding of the child.
