The one.Program was established in 1991 to serve at-promise youth in the county. The one.Program includes students who have been expelled from their home district, referred by juvenile court or probation, or have been referred through their district’s School Attendance Review Board (SARB). Families also request enrollment if they need a non-traditional educational setting for their child. The one.Program also serves students identified as foster youth, homeless, or pupils who are severely credit deficient and need a non-traditional educational pathway to complete their graduation requirements.
The one.Program can serve students from kindergarten through twelfth grade in a variety of educational settings and includes a variety of staff positions beyond the typical teacher, counselor, and administrator. For example, the one.Health team provides comprehensive health resources for all students and their families as necessary. Mental health clinicians provide assessments and therapy sessions for students by request. The family engagement team provides tiered support for families, including a food bank program and parent education programs. The truancy task force includes intervention specialists and support staff that reach out to families, conduct home visits for chronically absent students, to ensure all students are at school and on track to graduating. The student services team includes staff who are responsible for weekly student enrollment, transcripts, attendance, nutrition, and maintenance of school sites. Students in the one.Program also engage in Quest field trips, designed to inspire confidence, foster teamwork, and develop valuable skills that support their personal and academic growth.
