Registration Open for Summer STEM Camps at the SJCOE

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics day camps available in June and July

Students who want to spend time this summer exploring the world through an electron microscope, using microcomputers to create high-tech fashion, learning computer coding by making a video game, or discovering biotechnology through hands-on experiences can sign up for a wide range of summer camps available at the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE).

Spots are still available at the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) camps, offered at different times in June and July and available to students in grades two through 12.

New additions to the roster of camps this summer include the Technology Boutique with Arduinos. Held in the SJCOE's new maker space -- called the FabLab -- this two-day camp allows students to learn the basics of computer coding while creating wearable high-tech fashion they can take home with them.

Also added this year is the Microscopy Bootcamp, where students will learn how to research using SJCOE STEM Programs' new electron microscope that offers 60,000 times magnification, 240,000 times magnification using digital zoom.

Registration is open now. All camps are held in locations on the SJCOE campus, on Transworld Drive in Stockton. Fees apply; scholarships available to eligible students. To learn more and sign up, go to http://bit.ly/SJCOESummerSTEM.
