SJCOEEF Raises Nearly $50,000 at 28th Annual Golf Tournament

Money raised will help fund county student events and activities

Students will benefit from the nearly $50,000 raised at the 28th Annual San Joaquin County Office of Education Educational Foundation (SJCOEEF) Golf Shootout on Sept. 30.

Historically known as one of the most successful events the SJCOEEF hosts each year, more than 120 businesses and individuals sponsored this year’s fundraiser, ranging from $50 to $5,000.

The top sponsors of this event were Financial Center Credit Union, Staples, Johnson Controls, Keenan & Associates, and Legacy Enterprises.

This year 116 golfers played in the tournament. Square Tires took first place in the tournament with a team comprised of Lee Bethea, Mitch Harrison, Kevin Wolf, and Steve Wolf.

Financial Center Credit Union has been a supporter of the SJCOEEF for about 10 years and Staples has been a supporter for four years. Both are Platinum Level Sponsors, the highest level of sponsorship.

Funds raised from the annual event help support student activities including Outdoor Education, Mock Trial, and the Honor Choir, Band, and Orchestra.

One of the goals of the SJCOEEF is to support student programs and activities that connect students and schools with the community through positive relationships. As part of the mission statement, the Foundation was created to link public schools with businesses, individuals, and civic organizations to enhance self-esteem, academic achievement, and good citizenship of students.

The SJCOEEF was established in 1995 in part to help increase community input, involvement, and support of public education.
