Science Olympiad Results for Division A

Brookside School, team blue, takes first place at Science Olympiad

Students from seven districts and 24 schools, including charter and private schools, participated in the 35th Annual San Joaquin County Science Olympiad Competition for Division A (third grade through sixth grade). In all, 39 teams from throughout the county participated in the one-day competition held at McNair High School on March 12. Students receiving medals and the top-scoring teams receiving plaques were announced during the virtual ceremony on March 14.

Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events for which students prepare during the year. The competitions follow the format of popular board games, TV shows, and athletic games. These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers, and technology. There is a balance between events requiring knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills, and science applications.
