The Sip and Spell Committee had the pleasure of presenting LearningQuest – Stainslaus Literacy Centers with a check for $782.39 on Dec. 9. The donation was raised at the 2019 Sip and Spell, an adult spelling bee fundraiser supported by the SJCOE and the Great Valley Bookfest. The proceeds from the event support the bookfest and local organizations that strengthen literacy, such as LearningQuest, who are selected by the committee.
“It is going directly toward keeping our services free for adults by providing them with all the materials - like classroom supplies, curriculum books, student materials - and instruction they need to reach their educational goals of earning their diploma, learning English, or improving their reading and writing skills,” Rochele Roura-Foster, LearningQuest program manager said.
