Artist-in-Schools takes up residence in pilot program

The SJCOE Artist-in-Schools program puts professional artists in "residence" in classrooms throughout San Joaquin County. The program offers California Standards-based lesson plans for residencies in the visual arts and in dance and movement.

The program typically lasts four weeks. But a grant-funded pilot program is bringing year-round, multi-year art instruction to two schools in Manteca Unified School District.

Read more about the program in the latest issue of Outlook and learn about a class of third-graders learning and creating art in the style of famous artists, from Paul Gaugin to Charles M. Schulz.
