This institute is a specially-designed professional learning opportunity created for paraprofessionals who work with English learners. Participants will build an understanding of second language acquisition, learn about the 2012 CA ELD standards and their role in providing integrated and designated ELD, and gain instructional strategies focusing on accessing common core and other content standards for ELs. An essential component of this model is the time given between sessions so participants have the opportunity to practice what they are learning with their students.
