Aligning StudySync Integrated ELA/ELD with Designated ELD
professional learning series for 6th-8th grade teachers
Collaboration works best when teachers have extended time to learn, think, and plan. With this goal in mind, Karin de Varennes from the Language & Literacy Department has collaborated with Ally Jones from StudySync to create a blended learning instructional model for teachers which can easily be transferred to the classroom.
Integrated ELA/ELD and designated ELD instructional paths will be demonstrated using a blended learning model. Alignment of these pathways will show how they can be used for differentiation and acceleration of student learning.
Teachers will experience the benefits of literacy stations, flipped classroom instruction, and the ease of differentiation in smaller groupings using materials from Study Sync. They will be given choice boards and station time to explore, collaborate, and plan instruction that is aligned for English learner students in both their ELA and ELD courses.
