In order to substitute for the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) the applicant must hold one of the following (or have the needed requirements to apply for):

• You must hold a BA/BS or higher from a regionally accredited college or university (verified by official transcript).

Completion of the basic skills requirement (see CTC leaflet CL-667 www.ctc.ca.gov). Completion of the appropriate CTC application form 41-4. Completion of the LiveScan fingerprinting process for CTC, total fee is $64.00 if fingerprinted at SJCOE ($32.00 DOJ/$17.00 FBI/$15.00 processing fee). Payment of the required fees, currently $100.00 (fees are established by the CTC).

The requirements for the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit with a CBEST Waiver are as follows:

You must hold a BA/BS or higher from a regionally accredited college or university (verified by official transcript).
• Completion of the appropriate CTC application form WV1SUB.
• Completion of the LiveScan fingerprinting process for CTC, total fee is $64.00 if fingerprinted at SJCOE ($32.00 DOJ/$17.00 FBI/$15.00 processing fee).
• Payment of the required fees, currently $100.00 (fees are established by the CTC).

NOTE: This document is employer driven. An applicant cannot apply for this type of document on their own. The only way to satisfy the Basic Skills requirement for renewal of this document is CBEST (www.cbest.nesinc.com).

The requirements for the Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers are as follows:

•Completion of a minimum of ninety (90) semester units of course work from a regionally accredited four-year California college or university (verified by official transcript).
• Verification of current enrollment in a regionally accredited four-year California college or university (verified by official transcript or official letter from the college or university Registrar).
• Completion of the basic skills requirement (see CTC leaflet CL-667 www.ctc.ca.gov).
• Completion of the appropriate CTC application form 41-4.
• Completion of the LiveScan fingerprinting process for CTC, total fee is $64.00 if fingerprinted at SJCOE ($32.00 DOJ/$17.00 FBI/$15.00 processing fee).
• Payment of the required fees, currently $100.00 (fees are established by the CTC).

Our Substitute Teachers are paid as follows:

• Daily Rate - $120.00 per day
• Dedicated Substitute Rate - $140.00 per day (46+ days for the fiscal year)
• Long Term Substitute Rate - $190.00 per day commencing on the 16th day in the same assignment
