WorkStartYES provides education and occupation opportunities to Workforce Investment Act (WIA) eligible youth ages 16-18 within San Joaquin County. The program is designed to encourage high school graduation, provide the basic skills necessary to succeed in the workplace, develop an understanding of how school skills can be applied to a career, build responsible social attitudes and careers, provide an opportunity to earn money, and provide follow-up services for one year after graduation.

All WorkStartYES participants are assigned to a Career Developer that assists them with achieving their personal and program goals while providing participants with work experience opportunities as they complete their high school education. Career Developers work closely with participants to provide tutoring and work readiness skills. On track participants that are in need of work experience are then referred to WorkNet who assists them in securing temporary subsidized or unsubsidized employment where participants can use the work readiness skills they have acquired and build on them. Additionally, WorkStartYES provides referral and supportive services to assist participants in overcoming any barriers they might face.
