SJCOE coordinates four Teacher Development programs that provide professional development workshops, mentoring programs, job placement assistance and other resources to aspiring and novice educators.
Through
IMPACT Intern Program
, local districts and several satellite locations throughout the state of California, employ candidates who then join the program. Interns are assisted with processing district intern credentials, and attend classes while working full time as teachers. Project IMPACT prepares teachers for elementary, middle, high school or special education, culminating in a California Professional Clear Credential upon completion of the program.
The SJCOE Induction Program (BTSA) represents a collaborative effort among school districts, district intern programs, colleges, universities, and county offices of education. The program offers veteran teacher support and advanced curriculum preparation for preliminary credentialed teachers designed to further their learning and strengthen the application skills and abilities attained during the preliminary preparation program. Candidates earn their Professional Clear Credential while in the BTSA Induction Program.
Two Administrative Credential programs offer local educators an opportunity to receive a master’s degree and an administrative credential here in only 14 months through a partnership with the University of the Pacific. For those wishing to obtain an administrative credential only can also be accomplished here at SJCOE through Teacher Development.
District Intern Programs have a pre-service requirement (pre-requisite course). The Introduction to Teaching Program here at SJCOE has identified a course consisting of six modules to fulfill those requirements. Introduction to Teaching is usually offered three times a year, and candidates who intend to join our District Intern Program should and can take these modules at any time.
