Teachers College of San Joaquin (TCSJ) offers non-degree trainings for paraprofessionals. These trainings are for those who are interested in NEW employment as a paraprofessional at a Title I school.

Prerequisite

Participants must have previously demonstrated proficiency in basic reading, and math skills up to, or exceeding that which is required by the employing district for high school seniors. Requirements in Ed. Code 45361.5 and 45344.5.

Participants will be given training on assisting with the instruction of students in the areas of reading, writing, and math. A formal assessment will be given at the end of the training. Participants must pass the assessment in order to receive the San Joaquin County Office of Education Paraprofessional Certificate.

Training Information

Trainings are held at TCSJ at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, 2721 Transworld Drive, Stockton, CA 95206 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for two days each session. The cost is $100 and covers two days of training, materials, and lunch. The SJCOE Business Department policy requires payment in full at the time of workshop registration. One unit of non-degree credit from TCSJ is available for an additional $95.
