Fredrick Wentworth, Superintendent

Fredrick A. Wentworth, Ed.D, was elected Superintendent of San Joaquin County Schools in 1990. Since that time he has been reelected to the position three times.

Dr. Wentworth is charged with ultimate responsibility for all activities of the County Office. Under his leadership, SJCOE has grown from an office that provided mostly fiscal services to local districts into a large and dynamic organization with a variety of programs that directly benefit student needs. Since 1990 SJCOE has expanded from a single office building on Arch Road in Stockton and a handful of special education sites to five large facilities on Arch Road and more than 75 special education, community schools, and migrant education sites throughout San Joaquin County.

Working in partnership with the elected County Board of Education, Dr. Wentworth continues to seek out ways to improve the educational offerings to youth in San Joaquin County and fill unmet needs.
