Academic Pentathlon
In the Academic Pentathlon, teams of sixth, seventh and eighth graders vie in separate five-event academic competitions. Founded in 1984 in Orange County, California, the program encourages and rewards academic excellence among students of all ability levels. It provides an environment conducive to learning, where individual leadership, cooperation, and peer support are incorporated as motivators. Teamwork is the heart of the Academic Pentathlon. The San Joaquin County Office of Education will be sponsoring its 15th Annual Regional Academic Pentathlon in the spring of 2009. Every San Joaquin County School, public or private, may enter up to two nine-member teams per grade level.
