Cosmetology
Prerequisites
16 years of age (if under 18 years and in high school, must have Counselor’s approval)
10th Grade Education or GED
California Resident
Current Photo Identification
Requirements for Completion
1600 Clock Hours: which include technical instruction hours and required operations
After completion of the required technical instruction and operation hours, the student must take a State Board Exam for licensing with the State of California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.

Morning Class
8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Monday through Friday
Afternoon Class
12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday
All Day Class
8:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday
Evening Class
4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday
Curriculum
Chapter of Study – Cosmetology Chemistry; Health and Safety; Hazardous Substance; Theory of Electricity; Bacteriology; Anatomy; Physiology & Cells; Wet Hair Styling; Soft Curl; Permanent Waving; Chemical Straightening; Hair Cutting; Hair Coloring and Bleaching; Scalp and Hair Treatments; Facials; Eyebrow Arching and Hair Removal; Manicuring and Pedicuring; Artificial Nails; Communication Skills; and Mock Interviews.
Additional Classes Available
“Brush-up Classes” for former students in preparation for the State Board Examination. To be at 50-100 hours at the Instructor’s discretion.
“Crossover Courses”: for students who wish to complete the full cosmetology course after having finished and obtained their license for a portion thereof. (i.e., Barbering or Manicuring) These courses consist of 400 hours and are offered upon the approval of the Instructor and availability of space.
