Construction Technology for CalWorks Participants

Referrals are being taken for this six month course for CalWORKs participants. This class is designed to prepare graduates for entry into the residential and commercial construction. Included is: the study of fasteners and hardware, finishes and coating, materials, installation techniques, laminating and bending methods, new and emerging technologies, mapping and surveying, levels and transits, foundations and floors, walls and partitions, roof systems, electrical wiring, interior and exterior and exterior finishes, floor covering, metal glazing, maintenance, and landscaping. Also included is the study of stair construction, and construction technology and safety laws, and power tools safety. Also, students are certified by BATC (Bay Area Training Council) in hazardous and waste removal.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Good physical health and free from communicable disease
  • Reading and mathematics skills at 6th Grade level
  • Students are drug tested

    This is a 6 month program – 7 hours per day.
