Head Start Policy Council Seeks Members

Applications for community representatives are being accepted

The San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) is now accepting applications for a total of three community representatives to serve on the Head Start San Joaquin Policy Council.  The Council is comprised of parents of children enrolled in the federally funded Head Start and Early Head Start program and community members representing areas including but not limited to health, education, family services, and community services. 

Seated community and parent members form the Council to share in the governance of the program in collaboration with the Head Start San Joaquin Board of Directors.  Council meetings are currently held on the last Wednesday of every month from 6:00-7:30 PM however this is subject to change based on the preference of the body.

The selection procedure for the Head Start San Joaquin Policy Council Community Representatives as stated Council bylaws is as follows:

Community representatives who may be parents of children previously enrolled in the local HS/EHS program or representatives of public or private agencies, school and pre-school programs, community organizations, city, county, state, or federal agencies. Community Representatives to the HSSJ Policy Council shall be appointed by majority vote of the Policy Council.
