State to Release New Test Scores in September

The SJCOE has resources online to help understand the new scores

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) summative assessments in English language arts/literacy and mathematics are part of the state’s California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).

The new test assesses how well students are learning new and rigorous state standards designed to prepare them for college coursework and 21st-century careers. With the new tests come new scoring reports that look much different than reports from past exams. Previous scores measured different skills in a different way and cannot be compared to the new scoring system.

The 2015 test scores mark a baseline to measure future progress.

The California Department of Education has announced it will release statewide scores in September.

For information and resources about the test and the scores soon to be released, please go to the SJCOE’s CAASPP webpage.
