Full STEAM ahead at SJCOE’s Da Vinci Center

Watch how San Joaquin County Office of Education’s Da Vinci Center was bursting at the seams at its STEAM camp!

San Joaquin County Office of Education’s Da Vinci Center was bursting at the seams with more than 100 Butte County Office of Education’s Migrant Education students and counselors participating in a 10-day Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) camp over the summer.

The students learned a wide variety of skills to prepare them for the 21st Century. Students selected two career pathways of interest, Engineering or Media, and created projects that align with Career Technical Education, Common Core, and Next Generation Science Standards. Engineer students created projects that include robotics, solar vehicles, simple Arduino robots, and soft circuit wearable technology. Those with a media interest produced projects using Photoshop, iMovie, Keynote, and Prezi. Students arrived at the Da Vinci center from University of the Pacific dorms where in addition to participating in the STEAM workshops were also involved in activities on campus.
