With her proud parents and coaches sitting next to her, Aysia Cortez was recognized by the San Joaquin County Board of Education for taking third place overall in the recent State Wrestling Tournament, becoming Venture Academy’s first-ever athlete to place at the state level.
The award was presented to the 18-year-old at the regular board meeting on March 16 at the San Joaquin County Office of Education.
