Annual San Joaquin County Regional Science Olympiad B/C

Wicklund Elementary (Black team) and Tokay High (Purple team) take first-place

More than 700 San Joaquin County students participated in the 29th annual San Joaquin County Science Olympiad Competition for Division B (middle school) and Division C (high school) at University of the Pacific on Saturday, March 7. The awards ceremony immediately followed at Scottish Rite Auditorium in Stockton. Thirty Division B teams and 25 Division C teams from throughout the County participated in 46 events in this one-day competition. Medals and plaques were awarded to the top scoring teams.

Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events for which students prepare during the year. The competitions follow the format of popular board games, TV shows and athletic games. These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers, and technology. There is a balance between events requiring knowledge of science facts, concepts, processes, skills, and science applications.
