Students ready to prosecute and defend at the SJC Mock Trial

Ten high schools prepare to compete in the 2015 Mock Trial Competition held in Stockton

WHAT:                                      In this true-to-life competition, high school teams debate fictitious cases before presiding superior court judges and scoring attorneys at the 2015 San Joaquin County Mock Trial Competition. Cases involve contemporary issues and pre-trial arguments.

WHEN/WHERE:                  

Round 1:  Tuesday, February 17, 5:30 p.m.

Round 2:  Thursday, February 19, 5:30 p.m.

Round 3:  Tuesday, February 24, 5:30 p.m. 

Round 4:  Thursday, February 26, 5:30 p.m.

Rounds 5 and 6: Saturday, February 28, 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m.

Awards Ceremony: Saturday, February 28, 3:30 p.m. • Federal Building (401 N. San Joaquin Street, Stockton, CA)

*All events are open to the public.

WHO:                                         Ten county high schools are participating, including: ABLE Charter High School, Merrill F. West High School, Tracy High School, Venture Academy, Stockton Early College Academy, Pacific Law Academy, Escalon High School, Lincoln High School, Langston Hughes Academy and Ronald McNair High School. 

CASE:                                         People v Shem is the trial of Evan Shem, who faces one felony count, theft by larceny, for the theft of Treason, a painting by Fletcher Yazoo.
