SJC at National HOSA Conference

This summer, Venture Academy Family of Schools’ HOSA took three students and one advisor to the HOSA National Leadership Conference in Florida.

This summer, Venture Academy Family of Schools’ HOSA took three students and one advisor to the HOSA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida as representatives for both Venture Academy Family of Schools’ HOSA and California HOSA. The students were able to partake in a variety of exciting activities throughout the conference. All participants represented their school and State with pride during the opening, closing, and recognition ceremonies. They were able to meet and network with a variety of people from across the nation during their downtime at the conference and learn more about the resources available to them for their education and future career.

During the conference the students were also able to participate in competitive and recognition events. Students and State gold-medalists Victor Miranda and Kaicie Messer competed at the national level for the Career Health Display Competition. Linda Pina, the Venture Academy HOSA Historian, was given the opportunity to present the great year Venture Academy Family of Schools’ HOSA had through the chapter’s scrapbook, which led the chapter being recognized as a National Outstanding HOSA Chapter. Also, the Chapter was recognized at the national level for its dedication to networking through its newsletter, as well as the chapter’s outstanding support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in HOSA’s national service project.

“Overall it was an enriching experience for all who participated in it. Venture Academy HOSA looks forward to giving more students this opportunity in the future,” stated Heather Fogg, teacher at Venture Academy Family of Schools. “They learn about being active members of their communities and leadership skills that they can take forward in their lives.”
