Multilingual Education

The Multilingual Education Department provides professional development and technical assistance to educators of English Learners. Programs are designed to support the development and practice of effective methods of teaching English Learners leading to academic success. Serving teachers throughout Northern California, our Bilingual Teacher Training Project (BTTP-13) specifically provides leadership to educators in the metropolitan areas around Stockton, Modesto and Sacramento as well as those teachers in the greater Sacramento Valley and Sierra Nevada geographic areas.

In addition to the services describe above, SJCOE Multilingual Education provides leadership in the teaching of foreign languages.

We are committed to assisting in the implementation, development and ongoing support of all aspects of the education of English Learners

From preschool through adults

In bilingual and English only instructional programs

For parents, paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community at large.

We provide high quality sustained professional development consistent with research and national standards for professional development and the California standards for the teaching profession. Our programs are designed to support the development of effective methods of teaching English Learners leading to their academic success.

We provide leadership and opportunity for networking at the local, county and statewide levels.

We collaborate with other departments and agencies to help ensure that the issues regarding the education of English Learners are consistently addressed.
