High Intensity Language Training

High Intensity Language Training classes (HILTs) are full immersion institutes, generally 90 hours long. Three to five institutes are held during the summer months. These 90 hour courses allow participants to earn between 4 – 6 units of university credit.

Two three-week HILTs are held each summer, one in Stockton and one in Oakhurst. We also work with Tehama County on a Summer Spanish Institute held each year at Chico State.

Packing 90 hours of language instruction is truly High Intensity Language Training! But as these comments show learning can be fun:

I cannot begin to express how much of on impact this whole week has had on me. It has been one of the best educational experiences I’ve ever had! * ...given me more confidence than I had ever imagined! * The instructors were awewome! * The total experience was excellent, I really enjoyed the variety, by including culture, art, dance, cooking and geography it gives an overview of the Spanish language and culture. * I have such empathy for my second language learners and their families.
