State History Subject Matter Projects

The California History-Social Science Project (CHSSP) is a K-16 collaborative dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in history and social science education.

Part of the larger network of discipline-specific sites known as the California Subject Matter Projects, CHSSP sites are housed in the departments of history and geography at university campuses throughout California.

As teachers of history and of lively and challenging students in a state with rigorous content standards, they aim to increase student achievement by teaching history in challenging and exciting ways, to expand content knowledge and develop a literate citizenry.
