Welcome to San Joaquin County Office of Education H1N1 flu website.

San Joaquin County Office of Education created this website to provide schools and parents with the most current information about the Novel H1N1 Influenza (flu) outbreak. Novel H1N1 (referred to as “swine flu”) is a new influenza causing illness in people. This virus is spreading from person-to-person worldwide, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza virus spreads. The World Health Organization (WHO) has categorized the spread of this Novel H1N1 flu virus as a phase VI, which means that we are in a worldwide pandemic. California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has activated a toll-free H1N1 flu hotline in English and Spanish. Assistance in other languages is also available. The phone number is 1-888-865-0564. CDPH’s H1N1 flu hotline is available Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also ask your health care provider or call the CDC Hotline: 1-800-CDC-INFO (4636).
