RSDSS, WINTER Foundational Work 3-Day Series
Set the stage for effective Professional Learning Communities by establishing a District School Leadership Team (DSLT); collecting and analyzing district and site specific data; and crafting strategic professional development/improvement plans based on identified needs.
Date:
Day 1: December 7, 2012 8:30am-4:00pm
District School Leadership Team (DSLT)/Data Collection: Participating site/district leaders will learn how and why to establish a responsive, effective DSLT, and the specific roles a DSLT should perform, related to their Program Improvement status. PI requirements, tools for evaluating the instructional program (e.g. APS, DAS, ELSSA, ISS), and information on how to administer the APS will be presented
* Participating site/district leaders will be expected to establish their DSLT and complete the APS and DAS prior to Day 2.
Day 2: January 15, 2013 8:30am-4:00pm
Data Analysis: Participating DSLTs will be guided in establishing priorities as they use the findings to develop/revise their SPSA/LEAP. Teams will use APS/DAS data in addition to other school and district data to identify priority goals. Teams will then develop plans that sequence activities logically, that address appropriate funding allocations and that cite persons responsible for carrying out each goals. This content will be presented by WestEd’s Janelle Kubinec.
Day 3: January 18, 2013 8:30am-4:00pm
School Plans: Participating DSLT will continue to develop their SPSA/LEAP. Specific strategies such as walk-throughs, Instructional Rounds, instructional coaching, PLC-development, full-staff professional development sessions, and other means for improving instruction will be shared to support the goals identified in the SPSA/LEAP. Additionally, how to monitor new/revised plans will be reviewed. DSLTs will be provided considerable time to develop plans.
