The Focus on Five Collaborative for Healthy Change Program collaborates with multiple partners to support early childhood educators and families in implementing healthy habits within the classroom, home, and community. The primary goal of Focus on Five Collaborative for Healthy Change Program is to offer healthy and nutritious alternatives to children and their families within the community and to provide teachers and parents new ideas for physical activity within the home and classroom environment. The Focus on Five Collaborative for Healthy Change Program is funded by First 5 San Joaquin under the Collaborative for Healthy Change initiative and through partnerships with Creative Child Care, Manteca Unified School District, Stockton Unified School District, University of California Cooperative Extension, and University of Pacific Department of Physical Therapy the following objectives are being achieved:

  • Utilization of nutrition focused curriculum such as Go, Glow, Grow (for children) and Eat and Play Together (for adults) to implement healthy lifestyle changes in the school and home environment
  • Utilization of the kinetic curriculum with children and site staff to promote increased physical fitness activities at the targeted early care and education sites
  • Promotion of healthy alternatives to sugary drinks through the “Rethink Your Drink” campaign
  • Promotion of the decrease in screen time and increase in physical fitness activities for families within the home setting
  • Participate in various community events to promote healthy active children and families
